The profile of the space can be traced back to a concept authored by the Romanian Artists Union in the 70’s. This materialized as a network of spaces dedicated to experimental art and young artists in several major cities from Romania. The figure 35 suggests, what would have been considered at the time, the conventional limit of youth.
Currently, Atelier 35 cultivates an interest in socially and politically engaged projects, peripheral practices, collaboration and education.
Larisa Crunțeanu has studied Photography and Moving Image and is currently a PHD candidate at the National Arts University of Bucharest. She lives and works in Bucharest.
In recent years, Atelier 35 was a site of intervention and collaboration for several teams of artists or curators. For more information about it please visit the Archive page.
